In 2010, I made a list of “promises” to myself. What I didn’t think about was how entirely busy 2010 was going to be with the wedding. How all-encompassing that process would be. Lots of parties, followed up by parties. I don’t want to say I let myself down, in a way I did, but I also bit off way more than I could chew.
For 2011, I’m going to make it simple.
- Weigh less on December 31, 2011 than I do on January 1, 2011.
That’s it. That’s my New Years Resolution for 2011. It does fit into all of the requirements of being a “SMART” goal, except it’s not entirely specific.
- S-Specific (sort of….vague?)
- M-Measurable (yes…on the scale)
- A-Attainable (absolutely!)
- R-Realistic (yes, very)
- T-Timely (365 days!)
I’m not going to require of myself that I lose 100 pounds in 52 weeks, or say I’ll lose 52 pounds in 52 weeks (which is entirely reasonable.) I will weigh less starting 2012 than I weigh today, January 1st, 2011, it’s specific, it’s measurable, it’s attainable, it’s realistic and it’s timely! Do I want to be down 50+ pounds by the end of the year? Yes of course I do. Do I know I can do it if I put my mind to it? Yes, absolutely.
How am I going to lose the weight? Following the Weight Watchers Points Plus Plan, going to the meetings, journaling my food. Eating less, moving more.
Yesterday was my first Weight Watchers meeting of 2011 (they are closed today for the holiday, so I went yesterday!) and now that they are full transitioned into the new system, I am going to go back to tracking entirely online, which makes it SO much easier to email Bella my food journals! That is another thing that I plan on continuing to do in 2011, emailing Bella daily with my food journals.
I am excited for a new year. New years feel like clean slates, like a new school year full of new supplies and blank notebooks. I look forward to what 2011 will bring and keeping up with each of you for this year!
Besides Weight Loss, I have a couple of other goals for 2011. Here the are:
- Take one picture a day. I got a fancy new DSLR camera for Christmas (LOVE IT) and want to teach myself how to really use it. So I’m not sure if I’ll post a picture a day, post a weeks worth of pictures in a day or what, but I will be posting pictures. I’m sure they’ll include new recipes!
- Take 3,000,000 steps in 2011. That’s an average of just over 8,000 steps a day. There will be low days and there will be insanely high days. My goal is to his that number. 3,000,000 steps equals to 1,500 miles
Tata for now,
Scale Warfare
That’s a lot of steps. You can do it. I’m really digging this Points Plus plan. Also, I just know I am ready now. Kind of like smokers – some have to try again and again to quit but then all of a sudden something just clicks and voila!
small steps to big changes is it for me in 2011.

Im off to take a small step (get dressed in my workout gear
have a great day!
Small steps is right! I seem to overwhelm myself with goals lists so long that by the time I finish writing them I dont remember what the first three were
I love the perfect simplicity of the resolution. We’ll get it done in 2011, for sure.
