Ouch and Good News!

So apparently I’m allergic to the medical adhesive that was used in my sleep study.  I need to figure out what type that they used ASAP ( so as to avoid further contact with whatever ingredients were used in the adhesive.  I was thinking that the sleep study was going to be the easiest part of this entire process!

I have these marks everywhere on my body that the medical tape touched me, all around my neck, on my face, my calves… lovely.

Not sure how well the picture is showing up, but trust me, its not pretty :(   The sleep study center tried to tell me several times that it was just an irritation, and that there was no way that I’m allergic to the tape that they use.  It’s 4 days later, and I still have the stupid marks, I’ve had allergic reactions before, whether they believe me or not, this is absolutely one.  Ahh the trials of having super sensitive skin.  I have an appointment with my Dermatologist this afternoon for them to take a look at it.

GOOD NEWS!

I got a call from the sleep center, and while I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, it’s a very mild diagnosis and “not enough to require treatment prior to surgery.”  I had very few apneas, averaging about 2 per hour of actual sleep.  They were able to tell that I didn’t have a very successful night of sleep as well, shocking.  Hook someone up to a ton of wires, put things up their nose, require that they sleep on their back, and take them out of their home environment, and they expect a good night of sleep?  Eh.  I’m just happy that I don’t require treatment!

  1. This is excellent news! I know you emailed me this yesterday, but I can’t remember if I ever responded or not. Yay for no further CRAP machines!!!

Ouch! I hope you don’t have to have any further adhesive like that. You poor thing. I hope the Dermatologist can give you something to soothe it and that it heals soon. Not fun!! At least the whole ordeal is over with.
