Psych Eval Results

On Monday, I had the final part of my Pscyh Evaluation, which is one of the approval requirements for Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal.  You can read more about the first parts of the evaluation HERE.

As I mentioned in the original post, Dr. S seemed a bit dry and didn’t have much interest in getting to know me.  Perhaps it was because it was a Friday at 5pm the first time I met with her, because this time, I much more enjoyed my time with her.  The appointment was basically spent with her going over the results of each of the scan-tron tests that I took, and it was amazing how well that the tests captured my personality.  I compared it to taking the Myers-Briggs Personality Assessment when she was done going over the results, because in all but one place, the results were dead on.  These are just a few of the statements from the report:

  • Psychologically I’m cleared for surgery.  She found nothing in my assessment that leads her to believe that I am missing or have any of the key things that would make her think that I’m not a good candidate.
    • I have a strong support system
    • I don’t have a history of substance abuse
    • I’m not currently suffering from an eating disorder.
    • I’m suffering minimal symptoms of anxiety or depression or any significant psychological stress.
    • I am charming, outgoing, and have a flair for the dramatic (dramatic, who me?)
    • I try to find harmony with others and tend to please others even at my own expense.
    • I deny negative feelings to avoid problems, especially with other people.
    • I will often joke or be light hearted in order to directly dealing with difficult subjects or difficult people.
    • I will likely develop a rapport quickly with the surgical and support staff, but may refer to them more often than actually necessary.

Pretty much spot on!  Glad that part of the pre-surgery requirements is complete!
