More Appointments

After the appointments that were added to my To-Do List for VSG on Monday, I thought I was done with adding appointments to the calendar.  Boy was I wrong!  Yesterday I got a call from the Bariatric Coordinator at Fair Oaks INOVA hospital with another slew of appointments that have to be made.  Here they are:

  • 90 Minute Interview with Bariatric Nurse to get my file set up with them.
  • 4 Hour Surgical Review.  A group class where they go over everything to expect with surgery from the moment you check in for surgery to the moment you leave the hospital.
  • EKG and Lab Work.  I knew about this one, but there are also x-rays required that I was not aware of.  This is another 4 hour appointment.
  • Surgical Release from PCP.  I knew about this one also, but apparently its close to impossible to get an appointment with my PCP less than a month out because she spends a lot of time over at the hospital.  I have an appointment with another doctor in the same practice for my surgical release.  The nurse said this should be easy breezy.

Anyone who is looking into any sort of bariatric surgery should really prepare themselves for the amount of time it takes getting prepared for surgery, the number of appointments is almost daunting.  I’m very, very lucky to have a boss that allows me to be flexible with my time.  If I’m going to be out for a four hour appointment, as long as I make up my time, I am in the clear.  These appointments should entertain me for the next three and a half weeks, that’s for sure!  I just need insurance to come back with an approval and then I can get really excited!

  1. Wow! Those are killer appointments – both in the number and also in the length of each one. I see the Kindle getting used quite a bit as you wait inbetween. :)

Side Note: the font on the blog is so cute, but it’s really small, making it sort of hard to read. Or maybe that’s just me and my 40-year-old eyes.
