First Day Back at Work

Yesterday marked my first day back at work post op.  It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great, it just sort of was.  I got my normal computer roller bag packed up with my laptop and usual things that I need for work.  I cleaned out my mammoth purse and only included the absolute essentials.  Why I need so many blasted things in my purse is beyond me.  The thing probably weighs in at 20 lbs.  Since my limit is 15, I needed to revise!

I got to work and realized I was going to have to get on the floor to plug in my laptop charger under my desk.  Since I was going to be down there anyway, I also plugged in my mug/food warmer as well.  I’m not supposed to be getting up and down like that, but I figured two birds, one stone, so just get it done.  Got everything unpacked, finished up my protein shake that I started in the car, got my warm tea, filled my Nalgene, and sat down.  Then I wondered “crap, when is nap time?”

Sleevie McGavin seems to not like to cooperate in the AM, getting the 11 oz. protein shake in took an hour.  Once I got the warm tea in me, things seemed to open up a bit so that I could start getting my water in.  I have reminders set in my phone that tell me when to take various supplements, when to stop drinking, and when to eat.  When the reminder to stop drinking fluids prior to breakfast at 9:30 went off, I suddenly realized “opps no breakfast in my bag.”  Good thing I’m never actually hungry!

Remembering to not drink for 30 minutes before eating, and then again for 30 minutes after eating is tricky.  I have to move the Nalgene away to the other side of my desk and screw on the lid so that I don’t pick it up out of habit.  I will admit, I do miss gulping water.  I’m used to getting in 120+ oz. of water a day.  If I take took big of a gulp now, it’s a bit uncomfortable.

Besides fatigue and being sore where I tore my stomach muscle, the first day went ok.  Early bed time for this lady though!  Tuesday is going to be tricky since I will be spending the majority of the day at an out of office meeting.

  1. I hope yesterday and today were better days for you at work. I do agree with SRG – each day will get a bit easier. Your post makes me very happy that I can take longer than 2 weeks off, if I need to. :)

    • I could have taken more time off, but I just didnt think I’d need it. In retrospect maybe I should have done three weeks instead of two, but I managed through. I think you should go for as much time as you can being a teacher and all! Ya’ll are on your feet a lot!
