Super Tight During TOM #WLS #VSG

This might be TMI, especially for the male readers, but it’s a reality of being sleeved (for me) so I figured I should write about it.  Actually I think I’ve posted about this before, but anyways, here’s an update.

My sleeve is usually very predictable.  I know how much food I can fit in it via measurements and/or visual ques.  How much of the plate does it take up?  What are the contents (i.e. dense protein, veggies, etc.)?  I get a small burp during almost every meal, which is my sign that Sleevie McGavin is full and content.  With all of these signs, that doesn’t mean that I don’t push the limits once in a while.  Sometimes its too many jelly beans, sometimes its too many fat free fig newtons, but most of the time, I do try to stick with the basics.

The only time that I am not a good judge of my sleeve is when that time of the month rolls around.  My sleeve, for whatever reason, feels super tight, especially in the AM.  One day this weekend, I decided to forgo my usual 1 egg plus 1 egg white with cheese and 2 slices of bacon breakfast, and decided to have 3 egg whites with cheese and a small piece of gluten free toast.  Anyone who has any experience with gluten free products knows that the slices of bread are about half of the size of your standard American loaf.  Side note, I’m no longer gluten free, but I do want to eventually work through the $5 loaf of bread in my freezer.  Usually this amount of food would be perfectly fine for me.  But not so much when TOM rolls around.  See:

In the end, over about a 30 minute period, I ate about 2/3rds of the food on my plate.  Every morning of my period is like this.  Usually by lunch I can have my normal portions, but sometimes not.  Just depends on the day.

Am I the only one this happens to I wonder?

Tata for now,

  1. This is really interesting. When most of us who aren’t (yet) sleeved get our periods, we usually feel like eating more, so in a way this is a blessing in disguise. You can’t give in to the hormonal pull usually comes each month.

    • I’ve never really thought about it that way before. It’s amazing how much and how quickly you start to forget things about your pre-op life. Maybe that’s not a good way to put it, but you know what I mean.

I used to be a endless pit around TOM. It really is a blessing in disguise. Thanks for helping me to see it in a different light!
