No Weekly Weigh-In this week. Actually no weekly weigh-in for several weeks.
About two weeks ago I started to get much more active. The first week was spent moving. Boxes going up stairs, boxes going down stairs, lifting heavy things, being on my feet 12+ hours a day while unpacking, shopping for the new house, etc. Last week was spent formalizing my workout plan to reach my goal of 100 Pounds by February 22nd (aka my 6 Month Surgiversary.)
Since starting all of this activity, my eating has remained the same. Me and Sleevie McGavin follow the nutritionists plan, we eat protein first, limit our carbs, and now work out. The scale flips me off every morning with one random number after another. Some mornings I’m up 2-3 pounds, some mornings I’m down 2-3 pounds. After doing a lot of reading on the topic of weight loss stalls associated with working out, I’ve decided to divorce the scale until December 22nd, my next monthly scheduled weigh in. So last Friday, per my request, the hubs hid the scale. He will bring it out on December 22nd, pending him remembering where he hid it.
It’s frustrating to work as hard as I’m working, have had weight loss surgery, only eat 600-800 calories a day, and then to not see the scale move. While weight loss is a huge concern of mine, being healthy is an even bigger concern. So I am just going to keep doing what I am doing. I am going to continue to stick to my nutritionists plan, I am going to continue to increase the intensity of my workouts, I am going to fight the good fight. I’m just not going to let the fucking scale dictate how I feel for the day.
This week, I am going to attempt to add 100 extra calories on the days that I do more intense cardio. So MWF, on my C25K days for example. I will get those 100 calories from healthy sources, but I’ve seen numerous recommendations to add 1-200 calories on the days I work out. I pledged to have no sugar in December, so eating healthy is my only option! I don’t want to stop working out just because it’s caused a pause on the scale. I don’t want to be “skinny-fat” once I hit my goal weight. I’d rather weigh 10-15 more pounds and be healthy with great muscle tone, than hit goal and still be a big sloppy mess physically.
I have a HUGE calorie deficit the days that I do cardio. It’s an experiment. This whole weight loss thing is just one big experiment to figure out what does and doesn’t work. Even after weight loss surgery it’s a battle to figure out what does or doesn’t work. I am going to focus one week at a time on what I can do to break my stall. No weight loss experiment can be figured out in a day.
Goodbye scale. I will see you on December 22nd! If you haven’t moved down, I know my measurements will. That’s what I am going to focus on for now.
Tata for now,
Scale Warfare
